Living on One Tonne of Carbon a Year, with Rosalind Readhead, Wednesday 6th July at 7.30

We hope you can join us Wednesday July 6th at 7.30pm to listen to our next speaker, environmental campaigner, Rosalind Readhead. She will relate the story of her life during one extraordinary year, told through the lens of her everyday carbon consumption.

“On September 1st 2019, I stepped through a portal into a net zero carbon world. I wanted to immerse myself in what this new dawn of civilisation might look and feel like. For a whole year, I attempted to live as closely as possible within the net carbon zero individual carbon budget of around one tonne of carbon per year. This is my resulting ‘rough guide’ to living the net carbon zero lifestyle, so we can keep below the threshold of 1.5 degree global warming. And learn to live in natural carbon balance.”

We think this raises really interesting questions about individual carbon budgets, living within planetary boundaries, global inequalities and social norms. But also… what IS it really like to live with one tonne carbon emissions per year? As always, there will be time for your questions!
