One Million Climate Jobs, February 24th 2015
Short talks on Bedfordshire renewable energy schemes followed by Suzanne Jeffery of the Campaign Against Climate Change. She introduced the booklet One Million Climate Jobs, and highlighted the March 7th London Climate Change March, which several attended. Copies of the excellent booklet are available.
Climate Coalition Conference, March 28th 2015
Two of us attended this event at University College London, gathering valuable information and discovering networking opportunities which have led to closer collaboration.
Brickhill Green Energy Trail, May 24th 2015
Three of us joined this Bedford event to see practical new innovations in renewable energy in local homes.
Climate Coalition lobby of MPs, June 17th 2015
We met up with Bedford and Luton MPs in London to discuss the new UK government’s policy on climate change. We had a lengthy discussion in Portcullis House with Richard Fuller MP of which notes are available.
Marston Vale Forest Centre evening visit, July 14th 2015
BCCF joined with Transition Milton Keynes for this well-attended informative visit to the wind turbine. The turbine is a 1.5MW capacity installation and the hub height is 85m with the annual average wind speed estimated to be 7 m/s. See http://www.marstonvale.org for more info.

The first of a series of monthly film screenings linked to the theme of climate change, with time for discussion afterwards. We hope these will be engaging and thought-provoking at the very least and an opportunity to network with others. All are welcome. Screenings are free. Refreshments provided. Bringing attention to illegal air pollution locally & nationally, which is causing an estimated 40,000 premature deaths per year. We invite people to add their names to the 38 Degrees petition.

OPPOSE COVANTA INCINERATOR PUBLIC MEETING, October 31st at Bedford’s Harper Suite. Attended by 130 people, at short notice, including several local councillors and Bedford’s MP. Presentations from Professor Paul Connett (recorded) , Professor Vyvyan Howard (via Skype)and Victoria Harvey of South Beds Friends of the Earth. BCCF ZERO WASTE STALL AT CRANFIELD UNIVERSITY’S GREEN WEEK, 17th November. Shared practical personal ideas, and literature on circular economy and the need for a transition to a zero waste economy. CLIMATE CHANGE PRESENTATION to Mark Rutherford 6th Form, Bedford, 1st December. We were really happy to be invited to give a presentation to 6th formers, talking about causes and effects of climate change, the Paris Climate Agreement and the way forward. Students asked thoughtful questions.
