Bedfordshire Climate Change Forum invite you to join us on our Air Pollution Campaign in Bedford on Saturday May 13th at 1pm in Bedford town centre (by the ‘Silver Faces’ on Silver Street ). We decided on this date well before the General Election was called but with the Government inaction on illegal air pollution levels in cities around the country very much in the news… it seemed very timely. We want to raise awareness locally with the local air pollution figures we have and how this links to climate change. Perhaps many people can relate to toxic air more than they can to ‘climate change’? We’ll have petitions and information to share. Please come and help us or just come to say hello and join us for a photo or two for the local press. This is a vital issue affecting our health, causing an estimated 40,000 premature deaths per year.

Everyone who cares about this issue is welcome. We call for government action:
A full plan to end illegal air pollution, without delay.
A diesel scrappage scheme.
A comprehensive network of plug-in points for electric vehicles by 2025.
Huge investment in affordable, joined public transport and safe walking & cycling routes.
A new Clean Air Act for the whole country to curb all types of air pollution.
So come along on the 13th at 1pm, on foot or bike if possible. Placards/banners with an air pollution theme are needed, home made work well!
Hope to see you there
